Sketchy claims, pictures of first AT&T Touch Pro emerge

With all the Touch Diamond / Touch Pro news surfacing for these US CDMA carriers, quite a few AT&T subscribers are beginning to get restless. Calm down, folks — it seems the AT&T Touch Pro is a reality waiting to happen after all. Based on some admittedly dodgy claims and even dodgier photographs, one particular soul has apparently paid $900 for a pre-release Touch Pro with North American 3G. Only time will tell if he got duped, but we′re going to believe that AT&T wouldn’t let this gem pass it by for too much longer until proven wrong.

Rogers’ Q3 lineup revealed?

Dealer documentation seemingly intended for Rogers dealers has, of course, leaked out onto the interwebs, possibly revealing the entirety of the carrier’s third quarter offerings. With the exception of the Bold and KickStart / Pearl 8220, there’s nothing terribly mind-blowing in the mix, though the lineup does include a pretty healthy range of goodies from the low end to the reasonably high. Highlights include the Sony Ericsson W350a music flip, a phone we’ve already seen meandering about in AT&T livery, so it comes as little surprise that we’d see it up north as well; the iPAQ 910c Windows Mobile smartphone from HP; and a refreshed RAZR 2 that’ll probably mirror the V9x. All of these chewy technological morsels launch (in theory, anyway) by the end of September, which really only serves to makes us wonder: what’s on tap up there for the holiday season?

HTC Dream, or just some reference design, shown off on video

Monday, August 11th, 2008 149 views

An all-too-brief, all-too-fuzzy video of a device alleging to be none other than HTC’s Dream has surfaced on YouTube, showing a white smartphone of healthy size running Android and sliding horizontally to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. From what little we can make out, we’ve got to say that it’s not the sexiest thing we’ve ever seen — and the Dream has been so built up in our minds at this point that we’re expecting to have our socks knocked off hard by the time it’s officially unveiled. The silver lining here might be that the phone in the video bears an uncanny resemblance to a “reference design” made by “a partner” of Google’s that was demonstrated by none other than Google’s own Andy Rubin back in February of this year. Of course, that reference design could be getting refined and retooled to end up becoming the HTC’s inaugural Android effort anyway, but we’re hoping and guessing that the real Dream’s going to be at least a little more dreamy than this.
